Arise SA

“It’s bamboo season. Let’s cook!”

Why Arise SA?

Arise SA is an organisation aimed at the youth, their mental health and creating special moments to inspire them to chase their dreams, while also bringing together young adults to help push the movement forward and to set an example for the next generation.

The recent rise of violence in schools raises concerns about the mental state of our children and teenagers. We at Arise SA want to go above and beyond to address those concerns.

Certain species of bamboo can grow up to 91 cm in 24 hours. This symbolizes how quickly a life can be turned around, and growth can be seen – the kind of growth we aim to initiate. “Let’s cook” is a current motivational term for taking on a big task, which is why our slogan reads,

“It’s bamboo season. Let’s cook!”

Doctor, better known as Doccie, is a 29-year-old aspiring entrepreneur all the way from the icy cold Bethlehem. Now based in Cape Town, Doccie is a radio presenter and host of the popular YouTube channel, Proe Crew. Having been adopted at a very young age, Doccie has always wanted to give back in return for the chance that he has been given, and worked in charity for five years, helping farmers in need. Doccie is also a motivational speaker, and through his work in the South African media, sees the urgency for positive change in our youth. Doccie’s mission is to create an inspiring movement that will make memories that will last a lifetime. Doccie says, “A positive memory is a positive influence.”

Armand, who is from Brackenfell in the Western Cape, is a passionate and creative assistant wine maker, marketer and producer of the YouTube show, Proe Crew. Armand is a calm soul with a colourful creative side, which brings a different diversity to the team of directors. Armand strives to put smiles on the faces of South Africans, and to make a lasting positive impact.

Chad, 29, is a successful businessman, also from Bethlehem, and shares a lifetime of memories with Doccie, from pre-primary until they matriculated together. Chad, who now lives in Bloemfontein, has also been involved with charity and feels that young adults should be a positive example and lead the way for the youth to follow.

Our Proud Partners:

Emagine Web Design

Web designer

Malind Matla-Shields, founder of Emagine Web Design, knows how to turn a concept into an aesthetically pleasing and informative website. Having grown up on a farm in the Boesmanland, Malindi knows what it is like to depend on the kindness of others, while also being tough enough to survive on your own.

Daisy Doodles

Graphic Designer

Our logo was hand drawn by Nikita van Vuuren from Daisy Doodles. Nikita is a passionate visual artist, who heard Doccie’s idea and immediately knew what had to be done. The hands symbolize the hands of God, reminding us where our true power comes from. We added colour to our country, because we are focused on South Africa. As time progresses, and, by grace, the movement grows, colour will slowly start showing up in other places.

Lightli Photography

Photographer

Liezl Hollis from Lightli Photography, knows exactly how to capture the perfect moment to tell a story. She lives in Cape Town with her husband, Luke, who happens to be another one of Doccie’s lifelong friends. Luke and Liezl are both from Bethlehem, just like Doccie and Chad.
